Hello everyone,

I am currently planning the installation of a canopy above my front door and am still unsure about the fastening. I have attached a section to better illustrate the situation.

Specifically, I am concerned with how the fastening to the facade can or should be done so that the construction holds securely and at the same time the thermal insulation ([WDVS]) is not damaged. Are there any special fastening systems or recommendations I should pay attention to?

If anyone has experience or tips, I would be very happy!

Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards

For solidly built houses, for example, Fischer offers the Thermax fastening set with a glued-in threaded rod that has a plastic cone which supports itself in the insulation. You then need something like this for fastening to your ceiling joists. Everything else in the construction does not carry enough.

Edit: the Tox Thermo System should be able to do what you are looking for. Of course, you have to match the loads specified by your canopy manufacturer with the data from Tox and select the appropriate set.

Great, thank you very much, those are already the appropriate dowels (see picture in the attachment). I would like to understand more precisely how the front door canopy should be correctly constructed so that I don't have any problems later regarding warranty with the house builder. I imagine that a beam is attached to the façade, two support posts, and the roof structure is built on top of that. (Simplified drawing in the attachment) Is this assumption correct, or how would it be professionally executed?

It always depends. You can take a look at the canopies, for example from Gutta. If the construction does not protrude too far, it is definitely possible without supports. Beams on the wall are common in a wooden construction, but finished aluminum roofs are usually attached directly with brackets.
