Oh, I was wondering whether it’s even necessary to do it for the whole house.

Basically, I could relatively easily disconnect the upper apartment so that only the lower apartment is still heated by the current heating system.

The attic belongs entirely to us or the upper floor. The idea was whether the device could be positioned in the attic. Through the roof, I can just as easily draw air from outside. And definitely make the air slots into the ceiling.

As I said, I have no idea about this yet because I’m just starting to deal with it and have only seen that report.

My husband definitely wants air conditioning in the apartment. So, if I keep the heating, we would have to replace the radiators and install an air conditioning system. He definitely wants to be able to air condition the bedroom and living room. :-/

Men and their special wishes :-P I am modest and only want new doors :-D

:-D Ok, then I'll maybe cause trouble with the other potential heirs. He already seems to me to be one step ahead in that direction compared to the testator :-o :-D

For this comprehensive renovation, you definitely need a specialist planner who creates the overall concept. The good news is that energy-efficient renovation of existing buildings is strongly supported. On the one hand by the KFW, on the other hand by the BAFA. If there are also two residential units, this is even more interesting in terms of achievable subsidies. Therefore, it is good to get hold of an old house on which nothing has been done yet. Then the purchase price (irrelevant for you since it's an inheritance) is particularly low, and you can really get stuck in and implement an overall concept (up to energy-efficient new build standards).

Yes, they already told us about the funding. We have an expert for such financing matters two cities away who is known for working for the customer and not just for profit. And a good notary who thinks the same way.

Unfortunately, the purchase price may be relevant, as my husband will probably inherit only half. We will probably buy the share.

But we have already been able to discuss this with someone. In the end, we will probably still have to pay less than if we bought something equivalent that is fully renovated.

Alex85 regarding suspending the ceiling I wanted to say something. We could probably skip suspending it. We can definitely lay the pipes in the attic and then we actually only need holes in the corresponding spots in the ceiling. You can’t really call it a ceiling with us anyway. I don’t know exactly what it’s called but basically we only have "thick cardboard" with foil on top which represents our ceiling. We can only attach anything to beams in our ceiling (lamps, decorations, etc). Nothing sticks to the "cardboard".
