Hello everyone,
I am not sure if this is the right subforum. But since it is broadly about coverings, I thought it fits here.
We have an offer for the covering of our staircase. The staircase is cast and we want to cover it with natural stone. The staircase turns a corner.
Now we have to decide whether to set the tread and riser in a "Faltwerk" style or to let the tread slightly overhang.
The straight treads would be 25 cm in the Faltwerk style, just under 27 cm when overhanging. At the inner bend, logically less.
My wife is a bit afraid of heights, possible visitors to the upper floor are mostly older.
My question is, from your experience, how much do the 2 cm matter for feeling safe using the stairs?
Faltwerk is certainly more beautiful, but... hmm uncertainty.
Can someone assess this?
