So our expert would have supported us in drafting a hearty "lawsuit letter." If it had then gone down to the nitty-gritty, he would have referred us to a good lawyer or explained to us what we are allowed to withhold and what not.

Yes, that all sounds good ... unfortunately difficult in practice

the expert how is he supposed to estimate how big a defect is? Whether it can be left as is or needs to be redone? If he says redo: do you really do it then, even if the lawyer says that would be disproportionate?

These are the things in practice that make it difficult

What works for elevators does not necessarily have to be good for houses (or even in IT ...).

Big name, little substance.
