Hello,

my new Pax in my new apartment (old building/floorboards) is crooked – I estimate about 20mm sideways offset (probably due to the floor).

The sliding doors run perfectly, but you can see the gap to the crooked side walls and also no drawers can be installed (at least not everywhere – the sliding doors only slightly protrude into the corpus at certain points when opened).
Both corpora are screwed together, but not fixed to the wall at the back (distance due to the baseboard/skirting board too large) – but that wouldn't change the lateral unevenness either.

I can never fix this unevenness with the adjustable feet (already tested).
If I now work with furniture wedges and thin wooden boards for support, do the doors have to be removed first and the rails? Do the corpora also have to be separated? – I fear the tension would otherwise be too great. How then to level the two individual parts? The guide rails should also fit again later (could be problematic if both corpora are aligned separately and later there is a small height offset between them).

Can I misuse the height adjustment of the doors for something to fix this?

How would you proceed?

Thanks!

hi Clemente,
First, I would check the wall with a spirit level; in old buildings, it’s always a bit tricky.
I would take the doors off and empty the cabinets. Then connect both (is it actually called Korpusse, Korpen, or korpera?) cabinets in such a way that the side panels align flush in the middle at the top, bottom, and front. Next, you need to determine the highest point on the wall (using the spirit level) where your cabinet will stand. Then take the spirit level and shim it until it is level. Mark where the center of the rear plinth is. Shim the side panels in the middle and on the outside as well as the rear plinth in the middle. After that, place the screwed-together cabinet on the shims, but with enough distance from the wall so you can tilt it slightly backwards. Then tilt it back and shim the front as well; again, don’t forget the plinth in the middle. If the gap becomes too large, you can cover it with an attached metal or wood strip. I used a self-adhesive metal foil on my cabinets.
Regards, Mr. Rossi
