Ikea Ivar chest of drawers with 3 drawers - problems with drawer bottoms

Hello,

I have a small problem with the Ivar dressers with 3 drawers.

In these drawers, the bottom can be shifted slightly forward and backward. If the bottom is shifted too far in one direction, it breaks downward.

Does anyone know this problem and can it be fixed?

if everything is assembled seamlessly, it might be a production defect that I would claim. Additionally, I would try to make a support strut like the one used in Malm or alternatively install a larger and sturdier bottom, provided that only very light items are not intended to be stored in it.

the problem exists with two dressers, so a manufacturing defect is rather unlikely. I suspect more of a design flaw.

Maybe there were just heavy items inside. The dressers are already a bit older.

Therefore, this idea with the support strut would be interesting to me. How could one make something like that?

You buy a U-profile at the hardware store, drill holes at the ends, cut the corners, and bend the metal. Then you screw the strip to the front and back panel. Take a look at the assembly instructions for an 80 cm wide Malm dresser.

thanks, but I would have preferred a bit less effort, as there are a total of 6 drawers.

Actually, it would be enough to somehow fix the bottoms so that they no longer slip.
But I can't think of a solution for that.
