Hello!

We have the front door coming up and I wanted to ask how they are currently priced. Aluminum front door with glass side panel outside gray - inside white. Our first quotes are between €4300-5000 gross - incl. installation. Is that realistic or overpriced?

Thanks!

Yes, that’s how we wanted it too, total width 1.5 m. It was also around 5000.. We then decided on the plastic version, which is visually hardly distinguishable, for half the price...

For an aluminum front door including side panel & installation, the price is okay. As already mentioned, plastic doors are much cheaper. Regards

I would definitely get several quotes. The differences were really significant for us. For visually similar doors from different manufacturers with almost the same equipment, there were differences of about €3,000. Even two quotes for front doors from the same manufacturer, same model, same equipment, differed by €1,000!

We are getting a front door without a side panel. Made of aluminum, with triple glazing (with laminated safety glass), 5-point automatic lock and fingerprint scan, anthracite structured outside, white inside, leaf-overlapping on both sides. We are paying €3,600 including installation, and I believe that is already very cheap (we kept wondering if the salesperson had made a mistake). The manufacturer is Inotherm. The other offers were on average €4,500 - €5,000 including installation. As I said, without side panel but with automatic lock, fingerprint scan, etc...

So your quoted price seems realistic to me. But it’s always a question of what kind of equipment the door has. For example: with double-sided overlay panel, 3-point locking without automatic and without fingerprint scan, with double glazing, etc., it would feel rather expensive for me. Not with "better" equipment. But maybe the region matters too. We live in a rural area. It is often cheaper here.

First of all, thank you for your feedback. Now I can better assess the situation. It will definitely be renegotiated. And then we'll see.

we have a shell construction width of 1.57m.
we were looking for a front door in standard width and the remaining part as a fixed glass element.

All prices mentioned here are gross and include installation.

There are cheap doors for up to 500€ plus fixed element, but then you don’t get any quality at all.

We visited several manufacturers, basically it works like this: you choose a "filling" from one of the countless catalogs that determines the pattern/design. The catalogs are all very similar here.
The door maker then builds a frame around the filling.

Depending on the complexity of the filling, the prices offered by the door makers start at 2500-3500€ (plus costs for the fixed side panel (approx. 500€)).
The equipment of this door is standard, i.e. multi-point locking, triple glazing, thermal insulated filling, plastic.

Doors in aluminum cost about 700-1500€ extra depending on the model.
Colored doors cost 500-1000€ more, color different on the inside as well.

Overlay doors (only considered reasonable so far in aluminum) cost another 300-500€ more for aluminum.
Statement from the last provider: earlier overlay was the cheap option, and the non-overlay (= profiled = "nicer") was more expensive. When aluminum doors came to market, it was exactly the other way around for them so today they sell the surcharge for overlay as higher quality. The trend confirms this.
Ultimately it’s just a matter of taste and not a functional difference.

All offers for a wooden door were always priced between the plastic door and the aluminum door for us.
We didn’t find the wooden door supplier locally, but through image search on google.
A local carpenter made a counter offer based on the photo of the other supplier (there is also another thread from me about this with a detailed list of features) and was slightly better priced, but with somewhat lower equipment.

In total, we definitely contacted or visited 10-20 providers and manufacturers until we had an idea of features etc.
In my opinion it’s worth asking around a lot.
Above all, I have the impression that the more local and smaller the company, the cheaper the offer. Well-known manufacturers that you find immediately on Google and who operate nationwide always had higher prices.
Region is OWL.
