How much does a mostly self-built house cost?

He knows that, and even if he had time now to help with the outdoor area (not that I assume that), he doesn't need to show up at my place; he has to live with that conscience for life. I invited everyone to the housewarming party, even those who maybe only borrowed a pair of pliers once, but of course he wasn't there... And "fortunately" I was only there at most 10 times for about 3-4 hours and was able to try a bit with him, which I could then do better at my place. That he made a few nice mistakes on his own, which I could later point out to him, bothered him enough.

Hi,
we had an almost similar situation. My husband is also a carpenter. Only that he works as such in a company that manufactures wooden houses.

We did everything ourselves, with resource support (hall usage during company holidays, tools, fleet, etc.) from his boss. It’s not possible otherwise.

That already presents the first problem for you: WHERE does your husband want to assemble the house? I have seen what kind of space dimensions and also machines (overhead crane, etc.) that requires... Also the skills so that in the end it turns out well should not be underestimated if one has never done it before.

Also: Don’t underestimate the time! We both also worked full-time in construction and had EVERY day during the acute construction phase (until the closed shell, afterwards we slowed down) a 16-18 hour day including Saturday! Only doable without children, hobbies, clubs, leisure fun and with extremely much support from the family regarding household, food, etc. Also reliable friends (here the wheat was separated from the chaff!) were always available to help. Otherwise it’s not feasible!
