I do it mainly because of the limescale. I also don’t consider it an exaggeration since I don’t make a fuss about cleaning and always have a towel in my hand anyway.

Or what do you think is the reason why some window putty in old houses develops mold. Certainly not because it is dry there.
It is the same with the joints in the shower - whether silicone or grout. Constantly un-drying moisture eventually leads to black mold.

I saw that you also started the thread about the fixed windows. Also do without them if there is no controlled residential ventilation (I assume that something like that is not installed in your penny-pinching), windows need to be able to ventilate.
