You should really look at which extras you need and which are basically nonsense. Nonsense are usually all the little things that only cover minor damages (e.g. 500€ for stolen garden furniture). This insurance is meant to cover major financial challenges and not a stolen garden lounger from the hardware store for 200€. Because you can’t make unlimited claims on the insurance until you get kicked out.

Definitely must be included: surge protection through all theoretical possibilities. That can quickly get expensive (cheap ones often have only limited coverage – be sure to calculate) and it doesn’t make sense to technically prevent surges.

You keep the insurance cheap by leaving out all the extras and only including the really important and expensive things (fire, water, surge damage, etc.).

Of course, the insurers know that too; and many only have so-called compact tariffs (meaning you choose between Basic/Comfort/Premium or something like that). But I agree with Payday; don’t get distracted by the small stuff.
