Have I mistakenly given the impression that I do not like old houses or that I do not like this house? I really like the style of the house and can well imagine that one can combine modern with old here – why not?

But still, thank you all for your assessment! I will now talk to an architect next and see if what we envision is sensible and feasible.

Best regards

I don't see any problem with that. It is not half-timbered but from the 60s, and it is not supposed to be demolished. It's fine; make something out of it.

We had a structural engineer specializing in old buildings with us. Which architect or structural engineer you eventually choose for the renovation is up in the air. I would therefore just ask around to see if anyone already knows someone who has had good experiences and initially take such a person for the assessment.

Please report back then!

By the way, there is actually nothing original left in our house from 1921 except the walls, the roof structure, as well as the intermediate ceilings, stairs, and the door to the attic. Nevertheless, we truly appreciate the substance of our house and its history.
