I will get the statement over the weekend.

But that sounds like I would end up with costs of around 1400 - 1500 EUR, with a few reserves. That would be too much money for me, then I could never buy myself a new car or something similar, and no higher special costs for the house are allowed to occur :-(

... and your acquaintance is a benefactor and has money to give away? Not even good friends make me such offers.

... and who pays for the firewood?

Well – look at it from this side. Better to have asked precisely beforehand and pulled the emergency brake for your own safety than to see afterwards that the kid has fallen into the well. We also had to say goodbye to the first draft of our dream house because the costs ran away. For the breakdown, the following: Ask how the house was occupied. Has your acquaintance lived in it continuously so far or partially somewhere else (e.g. in winter for 1 - 2 months in a sunny place)? If he lived there continuously – how often was he actually there (business trips, etc.)? The background to this is, of course, how he arrives at these low additional costs (if he is often not there, then only a little heating is needed).

He lived there with his wife and a child for 6 years, permanently. It is clear that I have to pay for the firewood, but I can get it very cheaply through my brother's forestry business. Maybe renting out is also an alternative....
