Hello everyone,

currently the first work has begun on our property and the heights / entrance etc. have been discussed.

There are basically 2 options to design the entrance: level with the ground / or with step(s)

We agree that we want a step in front of the front door. Our general contractor said that we can use the 16 cm screed as a step into the house and thus do not need any steps in front of the house or platform. But I can’t imagine how that looks from the outside. Then the front door is basically hanging in the air, right?!
On the side where the front door is, a carport is to be placed later, which will also serve as a roof and there will also be a passage into the garden. The contractor’s concern was that if a step is still concreted in front of the front door and a car is parked there, it won’t be so easy to get into the garden with a wheelbarrow or similar.

All logical, but what does it look like if there is no concreted step there. On Google I only find level entrances or the classic steps in front of the entrance...

Does anyone also have something like this and could post a photo online?

Regards
S.

I can't imagine that ... People are literally flying out the front door...

As I understand it, it should be like in the picture, just without the step before it.

I can already IMAGINE it vividly, but I consider it unthinkable that something like that would be built or recommended ...

Found something else that only have a minimal step at the door. But I can’t find any completely without – I probably misunderstood that. What is your opinion on a ground-level entrance?

That won't work the way you imagine it. The general contractor must have meant something different as well; otherwise, it would be simply dangerous and complete nonsense.
