Hello dear forum,
we have now received two suitable offers from GU and are having a hard time deciding. Both floor plans have their merits and we are struggling to choose the "best" one.
Our plot is on a slope, which is why we are building with a basement. This should become a lower ground floor/living basement on the side facing the street and be fully underground on the garden side. There will be storage and a technical room here.
Now we have the following options:
Option 1: Entrance at the front area, with rooms branching off on the right and left, which we will currently use as offices. A staircase leads up to the open living area.
Option 2: The entire front facade will be rooms to maximize natural light. The main entrance will be on the side of the house. Due to the slope, paving and a staircase would be used here. A second entrance would come on the side of the basement. A garage will be added here at some point anyway.
We would actually like to keep the option open to someday use the basement area as complete living space for us/our children/or possibly a tenant, which is why we also want to install connections for a bathroom and kitchen.
Certainly, having an entrance on the ground floor is the simpler and nicer option, but it would always mean a longer path to the entrance through the outdoor area.
We are having trouble picturing both concretely because there are just few examples. Even image searches on the internet yield very little.
Do you have any tips? Floor plans are attached.
