After having seen in various posts here how floor plans became significantly better through comments from other participants, I’m now sharing ours as well. (I hope this works like this...) The kitchen layout looks different in reality, as we have already finalized the planning there. It is still completely unclear how to best arrange the living room (if anyone has good ideas, I would be happy). The bathroom upstairs is also still a bit uncertain; we basically like it, but maybe the washing machine and dryer should rather go into the utility room (under the controlled residential ventilation). Oh, and the orientation might also be important: the entrance is on the north side, so the living and children’s rooms are on the south side. And we have two full floors, so the roof pitch does not need to be considered.

Beautiful, large children's rooms. I really like the library! Where is the laundry hung to dry? In the library or does everything go into the energy- and clothes-consuming tumble dryer?

Yes, that is exactly the question... So far we don't have a dryer at all and then the rack just stands in the hallway in the apartment. Not nice. In summer we hopefully will dry laundry outside. But in winter? Dryer and maybe hang what doesn't fit there in the bathroom?

Keep the bathroom free from work! Seriously: when the washing machine is running, it can get quite loud. And new machines also take their 2.5 hours, followed by the dryer for 2 hours (which by the way doesn't eat clothes, but is really great). No bathing or relaxing then. And with a family of four, it probably runs more than once a week?...! I would also plan for 2 sinks.

On the ground floor, I would place the door to the living area centered on the window front and then also place the dining table centered there. The kitchen island needs to be closer to the kitchen unit, otherwise the distances are too long. Possibly you could separate dining from living with a central 2-meter wide wall? Cloakroom is good!
Freezer room: Controlled residential ventilation under the ceiling, preferably place all freezers in one corner (plan below), so you have free space.

Thank you for the tips.
Controlled residential ventilation hangs under the ceiling, so you could easily place a washing machine and dryer underneath, we have seen that done quite often.

The kitchen plan doesn’t fit as is, I’ll see if I can get it set correctly.

This is the kitchen layout, unfortunately I don't have it in a larger size yet.
