I have RC2N + grille on the basement windows. The basement windows are each 1m² in size, located in dark corners, not visible to the neighbors, and from the outside at ground level, super easily accessible.
In fact, a normal pane (with RC2N) already makes quite a noise when it is broken, so I can easily believe it when people say that in nine out of ten cases the glass remains intact, and since that is the only significant reinforcement of the higher classes, one can really consider how sensible that is for an average private house.
The only point is how I can make it unpleasant for a potential burglar?

Dog is ruled out due to an allergy.
Burglars are just as different as neighbors and other people. Therefore, it would be negligent to assume that there is THE burglar who can be DETERRED IN THIS WAY.
As discussed many times, it can be made more difficult, but it is especially the completely individual situation, the feeling AND necessity that must be clarified. Unfortunately, even at the police advisory center, advice is often given in a one-size-fits-all manner.
You can go over the topic again and again, but the best thing is to do what appeals to you. In general, however, I recognize increasing fear without a simultaneous increase in case numbers.
I would rather not be guided by such fear.
