That is also a good point. It is important to me that when I am at home, I can sleep somewhat safely. If I'm away, they can break in, there is nothing to get. The rest is covered by insurance.

Ok then I would definitely upgrade these. The question now is how much a reasonable video surveillance system would cost? I have already planned the network sockets. It is purely about the hardware.

What do you hope to achieve with the surveillance? We have one, as well as property lighting triggered by motion. But honestly, I don't believe this really helps. We hope for deterrence. However, this will only work on an inexperienced burglar. The experienced burglar wears a balaclava and simply ignores it if it's quick to get inside. My sister-in-law once sent us a video from friends. You can see how the burglar skillfully uses the angle to approach the camera and throws a cloth over it.

That is why the combination of increased difficulty to overcome and attention. It is not perfect, but if it takes too long and the perpetrator risks being seen, he usually gives up, mask or not. (Die trägt ja heute ohnehin jeder. :D )

That's exactly what I wanted to get at. I once took part in a training on burglary security conducted by the police. The basic message was very clear: the only thing that really helps is to create as much effort as possible.
