Weren't they made of oak? Regardless of whether prefabricated houses are ultimately just as good as solid houses, a large part of potential buyers simply prefer solid houses; they are easier to sell.

Well, for example, I wouldn’t buy a prefabricated house from the 80s. The question is, what will the ones built today look like in 10, 20, or 30 years? Will they be viewed the same way or has that been relativized?

A few tips to save costs. Always plan rectangularly without bay windows, dormers, etc. Put everything that carries water and sewage on one side, preferably at the front. Use the same 110 cm raw construction size for all windows. Avoid as many floor-to-ceiling terrace doors as possible. One is enough. Use a 110 cm front door, not one with a large side panel. Use white-primed spruce for the eaves. Paint it yourself with Consolan or similar. Pay attention to a wall measurement in the kitchen that fits a ready-made corner kitchen from the offer. All this saves you around 10 to 15 thousand. If you also find a contractor who supplies you with Polish or Czech windows, another 2,000. Interior doors, smooth white, another 1,000 saved. None of these plans reduce the value or longevity of the building. Karsten

our 140 sqm solid construction cost us 173,000 euros last year... flat land hardly any soil replacement all local companies from the nearby area. only the house, no incidental construction costs and house connection costs included, of course not the plot either but MV the 2015 statistics for Bavaria say 1,885 euros per sqm the new construction price index is +1.3% for 2016, 2017 data is not available yet

There must also be advantages to not being a Bavarian or even a North German terraced house vandal.
