I am not leaning far out of the half-timbered house window when I say: That is the reason.
In winter, you heat the gas out through the roof.
And the electricity consumption is due to cheap monoblock air conditioners, because surely no outdoor unit of a real air conditioner is allowed to be drilled onto the oh-so-pretty house wall.
The latter should definitely be approved by the homeowners' association before buying if it’s under the roof. Whether a roof on a house from ’94 will be done soon, I would doubt...
