Dear members,

this is my first post in the forum and I am looking forward to becoming a member of the community.

I am an IT technician by profession and if I can give tips regarding network technology in the house, home automation, etc., I will gladly share my knowledge and offer help anytime.

Regarding my concern:

I have a geothermal heat pump in the house which heats a cistern. For the particularly cold months, the system is supported by a water-bearing pellet stove that is centrally located in the basement and thus also serves as heating. Unfortunately, there is only one chimney in the house to which the pellet stove is connected, and I would prefer not to have an external chimney installed from the outside.
However, this means that I am completely dependent on electricity and cannot heat during a power outage.
Therefore, my concern

Does anyone in the forum know of a water-bearing hybrid stove that can be operated with firewood or pellets and that I can connect in place of the pellet stove in the basement?

So far, my search has been unsuccessful.

Thank you for the answers and the effort.

Best regards from Munich

Markus

How about a proper emergency power generator?

It should also be significantly cheaper in a performance and quality class where you can run a heat pump on it than additional stoves.

Apart from that: Do you live so remotely and have regular power outages there? I can’t even remember when we last had a power outage. And if so, it’s a matter of a few minutes to a few hours. By then, a modern house won’t have cooled down much.

Best regards,

Andreas

Are we talking about a new building? There you can turn off the heating yourself even in winter and won’t notice it until hours later, or even after a day, unless it is built with a wooden frame. Otherwise, a fire in the basement helps you little if the necessary pumps aren’t running.

- My question was not about a backup generator?

- The heat alone that the pellet stove (about 20% environmental loss) emits is clearly noticeable, so it would already be suitable as a location

Then you have a warm basement. By the time the living spaces can seriously be considered "heated," the power will be back on again...

Hi,

I definitely read that. But to heat the house you will need electricity, without it no circulation pumps, no control, nothing will run. In other words, without electricity your water-bearing hybrid stove is simply useless. Of course, you can stoke the stove manually and stay nearby. It will certainly get warm there. But that won’t really heat the rest of the house because the circulation pumps won’t run.

In other words, you will spend a lot of money and end up in the same place as before. It won’t work without electricity!

But go ahead, good luck!

Best regards,

Andreas
