Hello everyone, what options are there if a room in the basement is only used sporadically (permanent use possible in the future)? Also heating the basement room with the underfloor heating? Do not connect underfloor heating in the basement yet and choose another heating method because the room is only used sporadically? And if you later connect this room to the underfloor heating and heat with it, would you have to perform the hydraulic balancing again? With or without individual room control is not yet clear. New building KFW 55 or 40. Air-water heat pump

Hello,

if permanent use is possible in the future, I would already integrate the room into the underfloor heating now.

The temperature can still be kept low for now. To quickly reach a comfortable temperature today, I would consider attaching an infrared heating element to the wall.

This provides quick and pleasant radiant heat.

Best regards,

Dirk

Without room thermostats, you have to redo the entire balancing and readjust it. If suddenly 25sqm more are heated, using the shortest route (heating system is in the basement?), the parameters in all other rooms change. Does your heating system also support 2 separate heating circuits with the supply temperature? Then you could have the underfloor heating connected later - or have it connected right away and initially switch off the 2nd heating circuit.

Hello! Although I am not a construction expert, we had a similar situation. We bought an existing house from 1993. The previous owner had only equipped 2 of the 4 basement rooms with heating, and in winter there were ALWAYS problems with condensation on the walls in the unheated rooms. Our luck was that a basement renovation was due anyway, during which I had all the rooms equipped with heating accordingly. The result was as expected. No more problems, as there were no temperature differences in the rooms and thus no more unwanted condensation. In my opinion, you save in the wrong place here, so definitely equip with heating and consistently maintain the temperature. Best regards Wolfgang

Kind regards Wolfgang

But I don't necessarily want to heat the room where food is stored to 20-21°C like the other room.

As already mentioned in the green forum, you have to heat the room as well, otherwise it makes no sense. Otherwise, the room will just keep the efficiency of your heat pump low because it will draw the necessary energy from the surrounding rooms.

So either with a second heating circuit that is then controlled at the heat pump, or simply set permanently on the first heating circuit so that only about 16° or so are maintained in the room.

You can safely do without the ERR.
