Hello, we are currently planning a Kfw 40+ prefab house in the west of Bavaria. We are currently considering which heat pump to choose. The soil survey has apparently already been carried out by the municipality, but I have not yet received it. To be honest, I have not yet dealt intensively with the topic of advantages and disadvantages as well as price differences, efficiency, and durability, etc.

As far as I have seen, there is a BAFA subsidy of 35% for heat pump systems, etc. Does anyone know if we will receive the subsidy if the device is purchased through the prefab house manufacturer (this should not be a problem, right)? Has anyone perhaps already applied for a subsidy? It is quite new. If you have any tips for decision-making (choice of heat pump), I would also be very grateful!

Hello! Definitely read everything on the BAFA website. Also the information sheet. Regardless of the information sheet, there is a list from BAFA that shows which pumps are even eligible for funding. However, the presence of a pump on this list is not yet a guarantee for funding, but only a prerequisite. What matters for the funding is then the seasonal performance factor (Jahresarbeitszahl) of the pump. For new buildings, this must be at least 4.5. This is achievable with air heat pumps but not so easy. As for the timing of the application, it is crucial that nothing concrete has been commissioned yet. However, planning work may have taken place. Once the receipt of your application has been confirmed, you may commission. Edit: I would leave the selection to your plumber. It doesn’t make sense to impose a pump on him that he doesn’t know and therefore might set incorrectly later.

Nothing has been applied for yet. As I said, we are still in the planning phase and there is a lot we have to consider. Photovoltaic system, storage, heat pump, ventilation system in the house, etc.... and just the BAFA funding has 6 pages of information and then over the next 106 pages the list of manufacturers. I will talk to an energy consultant this week. There is also free advice available. Because besides the individual points of what is smarter or what we can actually implement, the price aspect is also important. That means obtaining quotes. Strange, I didn’t get the impression that my parents considered so much when building their house.

Our parents simply stacked stones on top of each other. Ok, a little more. That just doesn't work anymore today. Energy consultant is good, helped us a lot.

Free would be nice, but new to me? (Well, maybe the first consultation / feasibility question)

Half of the consulting costs (max. 8,000 euros total costs) are subsidized. That means a grant amount max. 4,000€. But the energy consultant is a requirement for KfW40+ anyway.

We looked for an architect who is also an energy consultant and has already shown projects (KfW40+ or passive houses). Otherwise, the two would have to coordinate extremely a lot with each other, which could lead to delays and uncertainties.

Ah ok good to know and thanks a lot for the tip. You are right. A personal consultation at the consultation center (30 minutes) is free of charge. The basic check is also free. All further consultations apparently cost a flat rate of 30€. I am missing a few pieces of information regarding the procedure anyway. Since, as mentioned, we are building with a prefabricated house provider who already has KfW 40 plus as standard, we are currently not sure whether we need to have an additional consultant involved or if one is provided. Likewise, the question about an architect. Because we are building with an external prefabricated basement, I don’t know whether this architect calculates the overall statics and creates plans or not, or whether we have to do that with an external architect who is also an energy consultant. I probably still have to open separate threads for that.
