Hello everyone,

Our heat pump (Weishaupt LS 8-B) has now been running for almost exactly 11 months. We ourselves don’t know much about the statistics and finer settings, so I wanted to ask here if someone can tell us what we might need to change or adjust. The house is KfW 55 standard, 150m² with underfloor heating and thermostats (all turned up to the max). The target room temperature is set to 21°C, yet every room is slightly warmer (22-23°C). The heating curve is set to 0.15. The domestic hot water temperature is set to 50°C and once a week the salmonella program runs at 60°C for 2 hours.

I also have to mention that I don’t have access to this Weishaupt portal, which requires an additional fee, and unfortunately, I don’t have a separate electricity meter for the heat pump.

Compressor operating hours: 3115h
Compressor switching cycles: 2107 (too many?)
Defrost switching cycles: 531
Electric heater 1 operating hours: 46h
Electric heater 2 operating hours: 4h
Electric heater 1 switching cycles: 942 (seems very high for the number of hours)
Electric heater 2 switching cycles: 7
Frozen switching cycles: 2074 (what could that be?)
Thermal energy for heating (11 months): 8409 kWh
Thermal energy for hot water (11 months): 1979 kWh

The heating engineer said everything is well set, but for some of the values above I would like to have more objective experiences.

Thanks a lot in advance!

The switching cycles also seem high to me. So on average, the compressor switches on about 6-7 times a day. Probably less often in summer. I don't have my own statistics on this. In my case, a Mitsubishi Geodan mostly runs continuously when switched on by timer or remote. Maybe 2-4 switching cycles per day, mostly when hot water is refilled. The 50-degree flow temperature and the extensive 60-degree reheating of course consume a lot of electricity. According to the Federal Environment Agency, the legionella programs are not sufficient. For comparison of consumption data: 4 people in a 125m² renovated old building (KfW70): 4700 kWh for heating and 1000 kWh for hot water. I adjusted the heating curve myself until it became comfortable. The heating engineer had it set way too warm before.

What does thermal energy mean? Is that your electricity consumption? That can't be. So how high is your electricity consumption (grid supply)?

Thermal energy is the energy produced by the heating system, of course not the electricity consumption. : Are the figures the respective electricity consumption or the thermal output? To be honest, I don't know where at the Weishaupt I can actually adjust much except the target room temperature and the heating curve.

The information is the thermal output. Electricity consumption is about 1300 kWh. We have the temperature set to 20 degrees everywhere (also in the bathroom). It fluctuates by +-1 degree. Is it perhaps set warmer at your place? Another factor might be ventilation: we have a ventilation system with heat recovery here.
