Hello everyone,

we are currently dealing with the topic "heat pump" (geothermal heat pump) for the construction of two semi-detached houses (heating/hot water supply). Both semi-detached house units are to be supplied by a single heat pump. Technically, this should be no problem. My question is rather how to determine and bill the consumption of both homeowners in this regard, since both parties demand/use the heat pump differently?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Technically it is really not a problem, but a reliable planning of the required heating capacity must be available. The question is whether it makes sense to provide one heat pump for both halves of the duplex – what happens if the owners change, or one half is sold?

The savings are likely to tend towards zero, since supplying 2 halves of a duplex normally requires several drillings. Depending on soil conditions, this is already the case when installing for one half of a duplex; it is the drillings that make the heat pump so expensive.

Before you decide, you should thoroughly inform yourself about the soil conditions, have a solid MEP planning, and be aware of the advantages/disadvantages of operating the system jointly.

Kind regards

Thank you construction expert for the hints and tips!

BUT the background of my question was different, namely: ARE there technical possibilities that enable a CONSUMPTION-BASED allocation of heating and hot water costs at the end of the year, in other words, how could the individual consumption of both parties be determined???
How is this done, for example, in a multi-family house where heating costs are also allocated based on consumption???

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello,

As in any other property - via meters and counters/semi-detached house

Kind regards

If it is so easy, then why do I have a statement from a heating engineer who says that it is technically not possible.

Anyway, thanks. Maybe someone else has a hint?

Never had an apartment in a multi-family rental building? Everyone has those evaporators filled with, for example, blue liquid (or whatever the expert calls them). You can see the individual consumption on them and convert it to the total consumption of the heating system. But the possible savings will be eaten up immediately by the billing. Your heating technician will surely say that it cannot be read on the heating system who consumes what!
