Basically everything that then goes in the direction of firewalling, such as selective forwarding, manipulation of ports, and in any case everything that requires more complex handling like NAT for certain protocols, multicast, etc. Of course, this does NOT have to occur in a typical home network, but since nowadays everyone thinks they have to deal with VLANs and differently prioritized packets, it should also be mentioned that typical advanced switches are not entirely suitable for that.What are more complex routings?
