We already have hard water here in the area, but I drink tap water, and it has to taste good; if it tastes like an aquarium, I have no desire for it! Today I completely emptied the brine tank, and at the very bottom, the dissolved salt was brownish—it's possible that this was the source of the problem; in any case, it smelled there similar to the water! I would now like to clean the resin using Resi Clean; do I just have to pour the stuff into the very bottom of the brine tank and then pour the salt on top of it?

PS: I have also sent a picture in the attachment showing what the already dissolved salt looked like at the very bottom!

Yes, yuck.... If the system looks like that, you shouldn't be surprised if the water tastes musty, aside from the fact that the ion exchanger probably doesn't look any better. But the user shouldn't be dealing with that; it's a case for the service technician (unless they just scrap it immediately). With Grünbeck, it costs about 270 euros, which is even affordable.

Unfortunately, I know enough washing machine inlet hoses and dishwasher inlets that are completely lime-scaled up, just like scaled showerheads where hardly any water comes out anymore. Also modern coffee machines where the hoses get scaled up because the water hardness was set incorrectly.

However, descaling is like a car or coffee machine; if you don’t take care of it and have it maintained, it just gets clogged. You bring your car to customer service every year; with household appliances, this is rather rare.

According to the drinking water ordinance, this is even mandatory, especially if you rent out.

A water softening system converts lime into something that can then be removed much more easily. Especially in new buildings, something like this is basically mandatory.

I agree, I've only owned the house for 3 weeks. I'll clean everything thoroughly now, I saw there is also a maintenance kit from Grünbeck with seals etc., which I will replace as well! If it runs clean afterwards, it will stay in, and additionally I might send water samples to the lab, better safe than sorry!

Best to have it done by the factory service, there are things I personally stay away from because I don't know much about them.

That's exactly how we did it in our house too. One tap in the kitchen has the normal water. The rest of the house gets softened water.
