There are two reasons for this. The system makes sense due to the "poor" water quality or the system was "talked into" it. Ask the supplier about the water values or have your supplier perform a water test. (Before the system, after treatment). Costs nothing.

Separate drinking water tap or separate drinking water line in the kitchen is the solution, costs (at least in new buildings) hardly anything more. For showers, white goods, etc., softened water is already good. Just doesn’t taste good.
