Many have told me that now.
But if I turn the garden hose on full and place it at the top of my terrace, I don't get past joint 2. All water goes down joint 1 and 2... And that with a 3.5% slope...
The joints are about 1mm wide.

That is of course not true. Where does the water run off from the tiles? Exactly, into the joints.

With heavy rain, 3.5% slope, and 1mm joints not really

That is not a drainage joint. We're talking about a minimum of 5mm, often 8mm or more. In the medium term, fine particles will be washed into the joints, then it will drain even less. That's the actual mistake. The slope must be present on all levels. In the subsoil, in the gravel, in the crushed stone, and in the paving. A 3.5% slope is quite a lot for a terrace; your soup plate would overflow. Did you do it yourselves or have it done?

P.S. I quickly checked tables – keyword runoff coefficient (of course, there is also a DIN standard for this). It is 1.0 for heavy rain and a sealed asphalt surface = all water is drained away. For patio slabs it is 0.90. So only slightly worse than the sealed asphalt surface. For normal rain, the figures are 0.9 versus 0.7 (the rest up to 1.0 infiltrates or evaporates). Unfortunately, there are no exact figures for large slabs with extremely small joints (calculated with 5-8mm), so the value tends to be higher. In my two cases, therefore, significantly higher.
