Yesterday, the newspaper here suggested that it's okay to let the terrace grow a little with weeds – as a mini cooling system for the terrace, which then also emits less heat.
So I accidentally did everything right. :D
Does a little weed really bring that much? The bigger gains are probably to be expected if you make the terrace one meter shorter ;)
By the way, your terrace is making me think whether that might be an option for us too. New bricks are rather expensive and hard to get in the south, but sometimes you can find some at reasonable prices from demolition houses. Does anyone know if there is anything to consider for paths and terraces or can you just use any old bricks for paving? I’d rather exclude the driveway because of car traffic. But do these old bricks survive if you go over them with a vibrating plate?
