We are building a house in the Nürnberger Land and are currently still waiting for the building permit. In the meantime, we have the result of our soil survey.

The groundwater is supposed to be at about -2 meters. So, for the basement construction, we have to pump out groundwater, need extra insulation, and additionally waterproof light wells.
There is an appointment to discuss with the developer and civil engineer scheduled for next week. Then we are supposed to receive a more precise offer for that.

Has anyone had experience with this and how high were the additional costs roughly at the end for you in comparison?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

If the basement is in the groundwater and the pit needs to be pumped out for construction, you have now reached the most complex and therefore most expensive variant of a basement. The additional cost naturally depends on what was previously planned and priced.

Is there an insurance that pays for damage to other buildings caused by pumping groundwater?

Honestly, take the money that the Wu Keller costs" about 80k including earthworks etc" and enlarge everything that is above ground.

With us, the groundwater level is also that high and our basement was supposed to cost about 80,000 euros. Since you can't be sure how long the basement will really remain watertight, we decided to do without a basement.

Best regards
Sabine

At -6m we would have built with WU basement. At -2 certainly no longer.. that's "harakiri"
