Hello!

We are considering converting a semi-detached house (built in ’65). So far, it has been used as a two-family house; we would like to convert it into a single-family house. The first floor would be for the children and the attic for the parents/office.

The ground floor (raised ground floor) is causing us problems in terms of the layout. The following functions/rooms should be accommodated on the ground floor: wardrobe, toilet, living, dining, kitchen. The kitchen should not be completely open and should be separable with a door/sliding door.

How would you arrange the rooms, where would you remove walls? We have already tried so many variants and moved scale-model furniture back and forth. But we don’t like any variant 100%. Connections can in principle be moved anywhere, as we will probably redo the electrical, water pipes, floor including underfloor heating.

The large window in the living room should be floor-to-ceiling with access to a terrace from which steps then lead down into the garden.

I would be happy to hear your ideas!

North is at the bottom of the plan.

Us too – here you only see a section of one floor plan, the other one not at all, no heights, no section. You can't work on this non-basis. Only where they are neither load-bearing nor bracing, otherwise it's no fun.

Yes... the [OG] (or [UG], the introductory sentence is somewhat confusing) should be indicated. Or is there a [EG], [OG], and a [DG]? Basically, one should try to include the skeleton of the floor plan as much as possible to avoid unnecessary structural efforts. In addition, the water pipes seem to be fixed. For example, one could turn the bathroom into a shower toilet, use the toilet as a storage room, and combine the children's room with the kitchen as an open plan living kitchen. Should the bedroom also be removed? If yes, I would see the living room here, a large room as a dining area with sofa, kitchen as mentioned above.

... and it would also be helpful to briefly outline the solutions you have already discarded and explain why it is not this solution after all. Otherwise, it will be suggested here again, but you have already dealt with it.
