Hello,
we would like to install a geothermal heating system with a cooling function from a reputable manufacturer in our house. It is controllable in the upper rooms (including bedrooms). On the ground floor, it is uncontrolled, since the heat must necessarily go somewhere when the heating is running. Now my question:
In the height of summer, of course we would like to cool the rooms. But actually mainly the rooms upstairs. Is it possible to close the heating circuit downstairs, for example with an extra valve, so that only the upstairs cools in summer?

PS: Please no discussion about the sense or nonsense of the cooling function. Thank you.

well, I assume you have underfloor heating. theoretically, you could implement the rooms with individual room control, and then have the rooms that are too warm regulated accordingly (however, this would negate the balancing of the individual underfloor heating circuits) On the other hand: if you have underfloor heating, you also have ball valves on every heating circuit distributor for flow and return, as far as I remember. so you won't ruin any balancing. disadvantage: unless you have electromagnetic valves, you have to do it manually and not forget to open them in autumn

Where is there heat when you actually want to cool? ;-)
This statement actually explains everything ;-)
I wouldn’t want your investment expenditure, the total effort required for it, nor the excessive consumption costs!
Have fun with this economical money pit! :-)

Best regards

If I understood correctly, it is hardly possible to cool with a heat pump + cooling function, but one should definitely think about dehumidification. I hope you have done that...

Although I am tired of this discussion, here is a clarification that may have been unclear: This is not a real cooling system in the sense of a refrigerator but only a simple circulation pump. It is smaller than my aquarium pump. But as already EXTRA STATED before, this misses the point.

When expressing oneself publicly here, one must also expect resistance, even if uncomfortable! ;-) Partially nonsensical individual constructions are personally completely irrelevant to me; I am more concerned about the external impact! What cooling load is even present here? Neither its magnitude nor the capacity to dissipate it is likely to be ensured. A pure DIY experiment, which is hardly recommended for reliable replication! Have fun with that ;-) best regards
