Ceiling heating, wall heating, or underfloor heating?

I was able to see ceiling heating in action once. It is absolutely warm and not a problem at all. The radiant heat also distributes the warmth well in the room. There are no cold feet either. At least not more than with modern underfloor heating. In properly insulated houses with correctly dimensioned underfloor heating, the floor nowadays does not get warm anymore. Warm floors are a relic from the pre-90s...

The thing with the tiles may certainly be true. With parquet, as planned here, I see it as less critical...

You are probably right, Björn, but for example, even with the laminate flooring in our house (children's room) I have already noticed differences compared to laminate flooring without underfloor heating. Maybe 2 or 3 degrees difference could already be noticeable here... - at least for the female faction

Hello,
Thanks already for your answers, as you can read here there are different opinions about it. I also have not yet been able to decide which system to choose for the additional cost.
Ceiling heating and wall heating are currently our favorites because of the fast response time, it is stated to be up to 15 minutes. Floor heating is still very slow even today.
Currently, we only have radiators on the ground floor and floor heating in the attic. However, the floor heating is only on in extreme winter because it is in the bedroom. We were able to get an impression, even though the floor heating is only 6 years old, it takes several hours until a change is noticeable, best to turn it up in the morning, then you can observe a significant difference in the evening.
There should be no more radiators, noticeably unpleasant drafts and it feels cooler by several degrees.

Hello Bjoern,
exactly about the radiant heat I found pictures to illustrate it, but unfortunately I have not yet experienced it live. I only know radiant heat from experience pools in the sauna area, where it is very pleasant.

I can only give a short statement about the cooling function. At my wife’s workplace, these ceiling heaters were installed afterwards, but not to heat, only to cool. She is enthusiastic about the cooling function. City center and large glass facades and still comfortable temperatures.

Hello,

With this user behavior, you pay monetarily for it. You should not change a once set temperature anymore – not even in the bedroom. Since all heat generators today are linked to the outside temperature, they only react when the outdoor sensor reports corresponding degrees. This not only has the nice side effect of saving money but also ensures continuous temperatures "without" long start-up times. Not to mention that cold bedrooms are often the main cause of joint diseases.

I sold radiant heaters many years ago; unfortunately, in those years the negotiation scope with energy suppliers was not particularly positive because they earned more from gas. Especially RWE opposed granting this system the heat pump tariff. Today, with affordable and additionally subsidized storage media, this is no longer an issue.

Radiant heat is something very pleasant because all solid matter in the room is used, but the room air itself remains cold. Short- or long-term ventilation does not affect the perception of warmth. Furthermore, they heat secondarily, which means incoming solar heat or other heat sources, e.g., baking, cooking, people, etc., are preferred. And – whoever can afford it can have individual radiators custom-made; for this purpose, we involved L. Colani at the time.

I have no experience with cooling, as the carrier – marble – did not allow it. On the other hand, I am not enthusiastic about combination solutions anyway; I much prefer a separate air conditioning unit.

Rhenish regards
