Yes and no, it was the same for us. The standard from the developer was a Rotex HPSU Compact (air-water heat pump). In the case of a gas boiler, you would first have calculated the gas connection and then -- due to a lack of a creative energy expert -- added the solar thermal system on top. For us, in the specific situation, the air-water heat pump was cheaper than a gas condensing boiler. (The gas option was not worked out in detail!)

In other constellations it can be different. At least the gas connection should not be forgotten when doing the calculations ... .

If the BU normally installs air-water heat pumps, the conditions are simply better than for gas. That's how simple the explanation could be.

Yes, I will check what kind of gas condensing boiler would be installed as an alternative. Otherwise, an air-to-water heat pump is basically a good thing for our parameters, right?

When asking about gas, immediately clarify whether the connection will be charged separately and whether solar thermal is included. In addition, the chimney also costs money, which is only needed because of gas, unless no stove is desired, and it at least affects the appearance of the building.

Air-water heat pump fits. This one is rather small with 4 kW; normally, larger heat generators are mentioned here. I would try to make the size of the heat pump dependent on a heating load calculation to be submitted. Only in this way can the proper dimensioning be achieved. If the heat pump is undersized, the "risk" increases that additional heating rods will need to be used = high consumption costs.

Isn't that just a small plastic "exhaust pipe"?

In our rented single-family house, a special aluminum chimney was installed when it was converted to gas. Although the house has a masonry flue, it is just in a different location and therefore inaccessible.
