have you recalculated that? 1 m² L-stone costs > 100€. definitely much cheaper than natural stones. but probably not the cheapest option either.

thanks for your post. how did you finally solve it? with formwork or form stones?

the "you can cast the foundation at the same time" still raises a question for me:

you sometimes see that the concrete is poured directly onto a gravel layer into the ground and thus completely fills the foundation trench. in some other guides, there is formwork in the ground to install a drainage at the foundation using a drainage pipe and gravel layer at the level of the foundation, above the gravel layer.

in which cases do I need drainage? the gravel base under the foundation is definitely underneath and I planned to put Drain-x drainage mats on the inside of the wall. is that enough if the water can then pass under the gravel layer of the foundation or does there have to be drainage?

We will implement it next year and have decided on the formwork blocks. It is the most practical option for us.

We will dig a trench, put in a layer of gravel and compact it a bit, then simply place the concrete on it up to the edge and then add reinforcement. Possibly also incorporate a reinforcement cage. Once it is dry, we will build up the wall. I believe it will last the next 30 years.
We will not install a drainage system; it does not help with our soil. The water level is so high there that the concrete is basically half underwater in spring and autumn (figuratively speaking).
Possibly we will apply a bitumen layer to the wall (I think that’s what it’s called), but we will see when the time comes.

Okay, then just tell me first. Do you want to do it yourself? What technical requirements do you have?

Hello, same problem, retaining a slope with a retaining wall and a fence on top as fall protection. The whole thing with a max length of 20m and max wall height of 1.2m + fence < 1.8m total height. Favorite idea: shuttering blocks! However, I neither want to veneer them nor visually enhance them, so the conventional blocks don’t quite fit. On the internet I have seen some from (e.g. JASTO) that have an all-around chamfer, which visually upgrades the whole thing quite a bit. Unfortunately, these blocks are not available in my region. The usual hardware store planter blocks, Hangflor (square), are basically out because I want to install horizontal reinforcement. Does anyone have alternatives? L-blocks are too expensive and the construction site offers little space for excavators, cranes, etc...

Hello, this wall solution can be found here in Austria at almost every house and I like it very much. I didn't even know that you have granite in the North or does it come from Austria or even China? How do you like this solution with sorted-out railway sleepers? The fence will certainly stand like this for about 3 years and is mostly already planted so that next year you can immediately see what has survived. It's like MÖBELIX - costs almost nothing. Do you even know this advertising slogan? How is the level area used?
