Hello everyone, I have now cheerfully read through the forum and need a few tips from you :)

We are currently planning our house and have to decide how big the garage should be due to limited space. Since we have a rather narrow plot, every meter counts here.

At the moment, our architect has planned the garage to be 6x5.26m (internal dimensions), which we think is too small. From our perspective, it should be 6x6m. Next to it is a separate access for bicycles etc., and in this room, there is also a staircase leading down to the basement (sloping plot). So the garage will be used purely for the cars.

What do you think of this size? Currently, we have an Audi A4 station wagon and a VW Golf, I think that should be enough. But no idea how the cars will develop in the future and if it will be a bigger car someday...

I am grateful for all suggestions :)

6m width should be sufficient, I would make it a little longer, 6.5m. If anything, the cars will be longer rather than wider. But if you ever plan to acquire [A8, X7 or Bentley] then it’s better to go wider.

I also find the 5.26m a bit short. For example, an Opel Insignia ST is already 5m long, the A4 Avant is somewhere between 4.7 and 4.8m. I think you should at least be able to walk around the car once when it is in the garage.

I would not plan the garage under 7 m in length, if possible. The width is usually sufficient if in doubt. My station wagon with a trailer hitch is over 5 meters long, and if a shelf is to be placed on the wall, 6 meters is really tight.

I cannot open the attachment. Are there other possibilities to place the garage on the property?

I would add half a meter to the length (if the smaller car is "in the way to the door", otherwise three quarters).

The name still needs ".pdf" appended.

Probably not, because the house is on it.
