If someone wants a comparison, in 2013 I paid EUR 3300 at a local Hörmann dealer for:

2x Hörmann sectional doors LPU M-groove 2500x2375mm woodgrain, RAL9016
(woodgrain=wood texture, but in RAL9016=traffic white practically invisible, LPU=extra insulated and M-groove=large double segments)
2x extra seals "ThermoFrame" including installation
1x emergency release including installation
1x code lock outside including installation
1x Hörmann Supramatic drive (fast, quiet, powerful) with remote control, including installation
no mechanical opening fittings outside (handles or similar)
including installation (2x 200,-)

The installation was completed cleanly by two fitters in one day. A second drive could also have been installed that day, they still had time. But my second door is always closed and mechanically locked.

I had only pre-installed an aluminum finishing strip in the floor (40x20x3 aluminum VK profile) to achieve a tight seal.

Personally, I am clearly against roller shutters, which I subjectively equate visually and technically with roller blinds. If I am going to invest, I want it to look nice later. Another point is security. Try breaking into a roller shutter and a sectional door, where will you probably have far more difficulties?
I have received two good offers from TorDoc GmbH in Cologne. One is a Novoferm sectional door and one is a Teckentrup sectional door, both with delivery, without installation. The Novoferm doors are apparently somewhat better suited for self-installation, as they come with detailed instructions (with pictures). With some craftsmanship skills and a friend to help, you should be able to manage it well yourself. I would be very cautious with the hardware store, because they often sell specially manufactured, lower-quality doors. That’s why they appear very cheap at first glance, but we want to benefit from our investment for a long time and not have to invest in replacement parts right away.

Hello, I am completely new here and very interested in the reviews of garage doors. I am looking for a new one and am clearly leaning towards a sectional door. However, I have read that with the door open, only a height of 1.93m is available with a 2.00m high opening. This means I would not be able to fully open the trunk lid of my car, or I would always have to close the door first. The ceiling is high enough to solve the problem differently, but how? Can anyone give me a tip, or is the roller door the only option after all?

Brief feedback. We are now getting 2 gates for a total of around €4200 including installation. The first offer from another company was €7000 including installation. So the search was definitely worth it.
