Regarding ring beam yes/no, definitely consult a structural engineer (or a competent planner or mason) – I personally prefer to build with wood, which makes this unnecessary. My advice was also based on experience in timber construction, so have the load transfer checked again by a professional for solid construction with wooden roof structures, especially if you want to carry it out yourselves.

That would be, so to speak, the mixture of both proposals from dertill, as far as I understand?
Anchor the purlin to the masonry (if Poroton allows this) and then a support underneath

yes, as I said, that’s clear. During construction, first of all a mason will be there and second, I will contact a planner beforehand who can tell/calculate the relevant loads and requirements for me. I don’t want the hut to collapse on me at some point.

As I already mentioned, I just wanted to find out the options that exist first, so that I’m not going into talks with the general contractor or architect completely unprepared.
We have already been able to avoid quite a few stumbling blocks or future cost points by preparing intensively for such things.

Creating a ring beam would be, intuitively, important to me anyway, whether it’s strictly necessary or not. Therefore, the suggestion of my acquaintance to support this ring beam and use the Halfen channels as a purlin also sounded like a potentially viable solution to me.

I do not understand why the purlin should be free spanning if it is not anchored to the wall: what is the objection to a central support that would stand on the base plate like in the carport?

I don't know if I am misunderstanding you now or if you perhaps misunderstood me.

I never really considered just a cantilevered purlin?

Actually, only an anchorage or a support was under discussion?

Or did you mean a support in the middle of the garage?

My solution would go in the direction of dertill's suggestions in #4: a purlin in the position of the non-existent garage wall on the house side, resting on the front and rear garage walls and in between on a post on a beam shoe like with a freestanding carport.

Hanging each rafter individually on this side would seem like clowning around to me (and a Pyrrhic victory compared to simply erecting the wall after all).

Ok, so you would rather place purlins at the front and back and a support beam in the middle, without anchoring the whole thing to the wall?

So I will take the suggestions for now and discuss them with the relevant experts.
