Sliding doors in the bathroom have proven to be very effective. Here I recommend a width of at least 1m. A low kitchen for wheelchair users should also be considered.

It's just unfortunate that the KFW program does not apply to new construction, but only to existing buildings, i.e. renovation or modernization.

Thank you for the answers! Basically, a bungalow without a basement would be the best option, as it is also the cheapest financially. The problem is that for me, accessibility or low barrier also means being able to reach the S-Bahn or U-Bahn as well as local supply facilities, i.e., reachable on foot or by bike in a short distance. That way, at least in the first few years, we would save on cars. We have never had a car before. Eventually, at least one car will certainly be needed. This, in turn, means that plots are expensive and/or small. In the S-Bahn area, one pays 100,000 to 120,000 euros for 600 sqm. Sometimes plots of 450 to 500 sqm are offered. Where two cars are needed from the start, the land only costs about half as much. So far, we are thinking of 130-150 sqm of living space plus garage/carport. And that is actually already small-sized. We would not yet know exactly where to put the bikes and stuff that we currently store in the basement (camping and sports equipment, tools, and the like). Possibly it would be possible to use the attic as storage space. However, you cannot put things there that you want to access regularly.

That is correct, I made a mistake here. I apologize for it.

Sorry, I had overlooked the question... I meant a storage room on all floors, with only a thin ceiling between the stories, so that in the case of a later elevator installation a suitable shaft is already available or can be created very easily, and no major shaft constructions are necessary.

Yes, unfortunately - but there are at least 50k EUR in program 124, without accessibility - to what extent accessibility is then "retrofitted" later is another matter ;)
