Hello everyone,

I cannot say whether waterproof slurry was actually applied. We only took over the house recently and have no construction diary information... unfortunately, this cannot be checked now as it is under the plaster.

There is no insulation on it, the porous stones insulate well.

With this post, there are now also pictures:
1.) Damage pattern
2.) Plan excerpt (red marking = Bitumen instruction, blue marking = detail transition foundation - base plaster)
3-6) Exposed transition points without Bitumen.

I hope the pictures give a sufficient impression.

Best regards

Is the bulging concrete the strip footing?

Otherwise, you have to distinguish between the building structure waterproofing (in your case the [not visible] bitumen) and the moisture protection of the base (plaster) (not present in your case, no idea if it is needed with this plaster).

Yes, that is the head of the foundation. Below that, it tapers off where the formwork should have started. In my opinion, the moisture protection of the base coat is not necessary with this plaster. But maybe another reader knows better?

Hello everyone,

after the thread has been quiet for a while, I would like to ask again if anyone has a comment for me after seeing the pictures.

I am starting to have doubts about whether I really need to apply bitumen as a vertical barrier around the entire house. I think the base plaster is waterproof. Therefore, at most the lowest row of the masonry will get damp, since there is a horizontal barrier on it (aka should be). The absorbent exterior plaster only starts above that.

I am grateful for any response.

Best regards

To me, it already looks on the plan as if the building waterproofing has not been pulled up far enough. I also cannot see any plaster/base waterproofing. What kind of experts did you have? Are you sure you understood everything correctly? You must not backfill directly against the bitumen waterproofing!
