Good morning everyone!

With our house construction (KFW 55 Standard), we are now facing the problem just before the start of construction that some points have come up which require additional financing, for example the delayed feedback from the structural engineer...
So far, we have a loan with a long (~25 years) interest period, without KfW elements.

Would it be possible to get a KfW loan (Program 153?) for the additional financing (~15 - 20 k)?
If I understood correctly, it should be possible before the start of construction, and so far, luckily/unfortunately, no construction worker has been on our land...

Best regards,
Christian

Very unlikely, [KFW] is usually only granted in full amount and also only in combination with a loan from the bank.
Best to just talk to your bank.

That is quite certainly not going to work. The money will be paid out through your house bank anyway, but they will surely raise their eyebrows if there is a subsequent financing in the range of 50-100k€ now. Besides, you also need a new land register entry with the KFW.

What amount are we talking about here?

15-20k €... Option 1 for me would be to talk to the bank, usually 15-20k € is possible without an additional land register entry, the amount is manageable. If that doesn't work: consumer loan and repay additionally as quickly as possible, if financially feasible.

Sorry, I had overlooked the amount. At that size, it should be no problem to talk to the bank. However, I would only complete the follow-up financing once all the facts and figures are known and not before the first groundbreaking has taken place at all. Otherwise, you'll need money again in half a year, and then it will be problematic.

That's how it worked for me as well and the interest rates are even lower than with the "big" loan. The bank offered a prepaid building savings contract.
