Hello braintstorm,
I am happy to help... Yes, of course we bought the floor from a specialist retailer and had about 4 weeks of consultation and information beforehand. We took sample pieces home and actually tested them extensively. We needed an extremely durable floor because we have 2 large dogs. I kept pointing this out to the dealer again and again. Originally, we wanted to use vinyl because we had the best experiences with it. The dealer, unfortunately, talked us out of it a bit! We then chose Avatara Flor A01 in oak cream white – the floor has since been discontinued. Avatara is certainly warmer than laminate, but not as pleasantly comfortable as vinyl. Based on our experience, I would generally advise against Avatara; as I said, anything is better than that. By now, we have received a completely new floor (vinyl) free of charge, as a goodwill gesture, since the manufacturer still believes the Avatara was fine. We had company-appointed experts who always confirmed this. Hiring our own expert would have been very costly and a quick solution was needed because we had already been living with this floor for half a year and were seriously considering legal action. In the end, without admitting any liability, as it is always called, we were offered the chance to choose a new floor. We then chose vinyl and have been absolutely satisfied ever since. For years we also had apartments with laminate and that always worked well, but I would never take Avatara again.
