Thank you very much for the explanation!

Yes, I also had quite a hard time with the ground floor. However, the bedroom must be in the southwest and the kitchen in the southeast, according to the guidelines from "Vastu"/"Vaastu". But I agree with you that it would make more sense to separate the areas.
Regarding the living room wall, I agree with you, the half-height wall is not very sensible - right at the entrance.

The plot allows a maximum building window of 8.80m x 14.00m - I would have preferred to go a bit wider as well, but the plot had other unbeatable advantages for that.

The terrace is in the basement because it is a hillside plot and because the basement then looks more like a "normal" floor rather than a dark basement. The large bathroom is in the basement because there is no space for a large bathtub (and possibly a sauna) on the ground floor. Also, the ground floor could become a guest room in the future and the parents would move downstairs (but for this, the bedroom would have to be larger and a walk-in closet added).

---

Long story short - I will probably leave it to the architect after all. The whole thing is more difficult than you initially think.

Why do you implement it then?

It is simply a tradition. And since the tradition does not demand too much from me and I can make my parents happy with it, I just go along with it.

And who knows, maybe the whole thing is true after all and does work?

I also think a good architect will definitely find a reasonable solution if you want that. I don't see anything wrong with someone wanting a certain orientation based on tradition or their background. Some want Feng Shui, others want ECO with large windows to the south, and others want Vaastu. That's okay. A challenge for the architect.

Hello,

We have also implemented this in Kempen for an Indian family; it’s not that difficult. A capable architect will manage it

Faith is said to move mountains

Rhenish greetings
