Hmm, we are about the same age... And have paid some attention to age suitability: no unnecessary rooms, a flexible room on the ground floor and a shower on the ground floor. Just mentioned in passing, when I read that a basement is a must (who decides that? The market?) and that the children’s days in the house are counted or only there on weekends. Edit: since the children also do not need care, it might be worth considering setting up a guest area in the basement and planning the upper floor just for ourselves?

I have followed the further discussion in the green forum. Only there I don’t like to publish my own suggestions. So here ;)

Kitchen now also with east window ... very nice on a sunny summer morning like right now.

Pantry/storage room as a walk-through room with 2x120 cm storage space. The rest can then disappear in the basement.

Kitchen with sunny east seating area and a nice view to the south.

Fireplace now on the exterior wall.

Hallway with niche for the wardrobe, bathroom designed so that the shower also has space. Identical bathroom, by the way, on the upper floor.

Partition wall in the living area for a possible sleeping area could be done at 360 cm, as on the upper floor. Then a fireplace can at least continue to be used. Living area then rather shrinks to 2 comfortable armchairs.

On the upper floor, the master bedroom was also placed on the west side. This allows better positioning of the bathroom and dressing room (really a dressing room) with 600 cm of closet.

Maybe there are some ideas for you.

Oh, by the way, I positioned the house about 50 cm further south because of the staircase windows

P.S: The program is glitching right now .. it labeled everything as Room 1 ;)

dear kbt09
I am still quite touched at the moment ..
thank you very much for the effort you made, I have not experienced that in the green forum, on the contrary, I only received criticism there, some of which even went below the belt.
Of course, one is a layman and is building for the first time and is very, very uncertain.
But I think no one has the right to portray you as a "dumb boy".
I thank you and will take a close look at the floor plan and take your points of criticism to heart.

Yes, the Greens are not very nice – one should already read up a bit on the tone there before posting something. Nevertheless: one should take their scolding regarding the house and their criticism to heart. Often they are right, only these pieces of advice get lost in the tone.

I agree with Yvonne on that. You really have to have followed quite a few discussions there and then you also learn a lot. Unfortunately, I often find the tone inappropriate.

I specifically mean the discussion about this draft. I just quickly reread over there – there is little below the belt. It is mainly about the issue of the pantry, which in the course of things does become a storage room (despite the basement), the impractical kitchen, which may look cool but has no counter space, the bedroom/bathroom situation, and the topic of age-appropriateness. Windows and views as well. These criticisms were also mentioned here. I just don’t see whether the criticism has been received. Usually, one feels this blow so strongly only because criticism itself is not pleasant when one is convinced or suspects that one has to say goodbye to one’s mental images if one implements the criticism.
