Hello everyone,

I am currently working on the bathroom planning for our projected single-family house, but I am not yet 100% satisfied with the proposed solution. It is the "master bathroom," while a separate shower bathroom is available for the children. The room size is just under 12 sqm.

The following equipment should be included in the bathroom:
- Double washbasin/double sink, alternatively possibly two single sinks
- Wall-hung toilet
- Bathtub (probably 180x80)
- Tiled walk-in shower (width 90cm, depth at least 120cm)
- At least one large double casement window
- 2 doors (1 x at the bottom of the plan towards the bedroom, 1 x on the left of the plan into the hallway)
- 1 cabinet for bathroom items

The following thoughts may also be relevant:
- Toilet ideally not open in the room, but behind a (half-high?) partition wall?
- Washbasin as close to the window as possible for natural light when applying makeup?
- Window ideally on the east side (right on the plan) to catch the morning sunlight?

Currently fixed are only:
- Room dimensions
- 2 doors (although their positions can still be moved a few centimeters)

The bathroom fixtures as well as the window can still be freely positioned. A second window is also conceivable.

Attached is a proposal that I created myself – both as a floor plan and as a 3D rendering with the viewpoint at the doors.

Now I would of course be interested in your comments, suggestions for improvement, and ideas – also very different ones. Is this practical as it is, or have I overlooked something important?

Thanks in advance for your opinions, best regards
Jens

The T solution is the obvious choice here! Bathtub then as a corner solution, and opposite the washbasin a large cabinet for towels.

I find it a bit creepy. The shower and toilet resemble a cell in my opinion. 2 doors, well, does it make sense to always lock both when someone is sitting there? Does the overall floor plan allow separating the bathroom and toilet from each other?

Hello Sigi,

thank you very much for your feedback. We actually made the conscious decision regarding the two doors. We even discussed your objection. For us, the advantage of leaving the bathroom directly into the hallway (without having to go back through the bedroom where the partner is still sleeping in the morning) outweighs the issue of locking. In our current apartment, the (one) bathroom door is actually almost never locked. The overall floor plan currently does not allow a separation...

The issue with the cell could perhaps be improved with an additional window on the top side of the plan – then both the WC and the shower would also have daylight. Would that be a sensible solution? We initially definitely wanted a walled-in shower – maybe we should reconsider and instead use a glass partition. Then the whole thing would feel a bit airier. However, the sink would then not fit in that spot...

I will additionally ask the builder’s planner again to come up with a few proposals.

Best regards Jens

Hello,

your bathroom looks almost the same as ours and we made this T-solution. I think it's really stylish.
You can see a plan here:

WildThing has exactly captured my idea!

And don't let the green forum talk you out of the 2 doors and the double sink. For them, basically every floor plan is bad.
