What does this have to do with selfishness? You have to consider that you always have to be on the kids to clean up their rooms. And it is understandable, especially when you have to share a room with siblings, that the desire for places to retreat is greater than for an only child. It's everyone’s own thing. That’s why I find the bathroom all the more important. When my children (both girls) get older or enter puberty, a third bathroom is more practical because I don't want to be "waiting in line" and asking: "How much longer will you need?" or "I have to go" and then both bathrooms are occupied (at least 30 minutes). :confused:o_O

You see, it’s about you, so ego. Both with the bathroom and cleaning up. Otherwise, you have to clean up anyway, even if the kids are playing in the living room. My parents have 3 bathrooms, the third one was used twice a year, the second one actually only as a toilet.

I find the children's room discussion interesting. We currently still live in a 3-room apartment. Our kids (5 + 1 year) have to share a room of 14m². In the house, they will each have a room of about 12m² to 13m²... Too small?!? As someone else has already mentioned: bigger is "nice to have". If the children are of course used to big rooms (whether due to a large apartment or a previous house), then a smaller room would certainly be a setback. It is always a matter of perspective

If it’s ego, then a healthy ego. I wonder, do you (Saruss) have children? Children do what they want and not what they are supposed to do . And about my ego... my children (5 & 2), who share a 15 sqm room and son, 17 years old, 11 sqm (own room) are also happy like that. And so far no one has asked: "Mom, I would like a bigger room." Instead, there is: "I want this and that toy." Have, have, but clean up , no way. So, as I said, you have to keep after them. :)

Yep. But this is not about children in general (you can start your own thread for that), rather about room sizes; there I have shared my (!!) experiences, and my ideas about childhood/possibilities for children. You can only accept that; you are welcome to express your opinion about mine. Just like with the view on what a healthy ego is and what is not, everyone is allowed to have their own.

Of course I accept that. The question was how we find the layout. So I gave my subjective opinion. And the examples ( sind eigentlich keine, sondern Erfahrungswerte ) show that the idea of room sizes concerns more adults. Children, on the other hand, don’t care, at least my children haven’t so far. :)
