Oh yes: regarding the fireplace --> we are undecided whether to keep the pellet heating fully automatic in the basement or if we want a small visible fireplace (freestanding unit approx. 0.6x0.7m) in the living room. In the living room, the waste heat would heat most of the space...

Is this or an "either or" - or an additional one? Since you almost never need direct heat (the new houses are so well insulated, you hardly need heat) it's only for the appearance. You still have to make hot water, even in summer. But nothing should be on in the living room?!

Sorry, I actually wanted to cancel the post, there are too many "generalizing" statements. What stayed with me about our house: we don’t need it for heating, nearly all stoves have too much power for our heating needs, for us it’s purely an aesthetic, cozy feeling factor. In other words: a decision of the gut, not of the mind.

A solar system is planned for hot water in the summer. We want to have the heat demand calculated first, of course, before we decide 100% on the heating.

Hello, as a layperson I find the floor plan very nice, but I am just wondering, you say you have 3 children but only 2 children's rooms? Is that intentional or simply forgotten? Regards Chelria

That's why there's still an office/guest room/children's room on the ground floor. :) It takes quite a while until the kids are old enough to need their own rooms. And then I'll just do without my "office" for 2-3 years. It worked perfectly with my parents who had 3 boys. I myself shared a room with my brother until I was 12 years old. No problems. :)
