I have no further complaints about the floor plan. But I do find the entrance at the carport somewhat unusual. Some of our neighbors have windows under their carport (mainly from the utility room) - those are pretty much "dark holes"... I can tell you that from personal experience. It won’t be much different with your front door.

By the way, our carport is 3.50 meters wide... which doesn’t really seem very generous either if we also had a front door in the wall. At 3.11 meters and 2 parked cars, I definitely see a lack of space...

Where does the misconception actually come from that it is much cheaper if as many window surfaces as possible have the same dimensions? Every window has its price, which is calculated from the frame in linear meters, the glass in m2, and the installation. If the window is smaller, it is cheaper.

I would also swap the living room and kitchen. A living room facing west is nice, because you have the sun from around 1 p.m. until evening. We also have two children who very often run up and down the stairs, go to the kitchen, etc., so I could never sit undisturbed on the sofa. Teenagers’ friends come and go late in the evening always passing by the couch; who wants to relax cozy on the couch then?

Best regards, Sabine

That is a good question. I have read this statement quite often on the internet. I think it is because the explanation why it is hardly more expensive sounds plausible at first (less wall, insulation, plaster, no window sills, possibly no French balcony since the lower element is fixed, etc.)

However, we also decided against floor-to-ceiling windows at the top because, from our perspective, a child’s room 1 should not have a floor-to-ceiling window.

Good argument. Hm...
Somehow I prefer standing in the living room rather than in the kitchen when I come in. And somehow looking out & looking in from the kitchen onto the street is a more pleasant thought than from the living room.

We will think about it.

I believe you without seeing it, that’s why the front door is only slightly covered.

The carport can’t be made wider since the maximum is already fully utilized. Besides, things should be quiet for the next 10 years because the new electric car is only 1.45m wide (Peugeot Ion).
