So, of course, it would be nicer WITH changing the ridge direction. Attached is a schematic of the house with garage; behind the garage there should be a staircase along the natural "slope" of about 1.20m down to the basement. It should be possible to park 2 cars side by side in the garage from the driveway, right? Or did you mean something else?

Price estimate according to architect/planner: 600,000 euros

What is supposed to be included in these costs? And who made the estimate if there was not yet a finalized design?

In addition, there is the "difficult" plot with a given ridge direction from east to west while the plot is elongated north to south. We are negotiating with the municipality about changing the ridge direction, but we do not know how promising that is.

What about the rest of the residential area? Has everyone there complied with the ridge direction? If not, the change should not be a problem.

5.5m for a double garage is possible, but not ideal. Assuming a mid-size station wagon, it is about 2.1m wide. Two of them together leave just over 30cm on each side per vehicle to get out. In addition, you still have the garage door sill.

But honestly, how did you imagine getting out? Backing along the street? You need a place to turn around. Therefore, the house should be moved further down the plan.

It is possible, but it gets quite tight, we decided against an almost double garage of 550 cm width after some consideration.

Two of these, then on each side per vehicle there is only just over 30cm left for getting out.
