That is why, it feels like 80% of all houses have this solution with the quarter-turn staircase directly next to the front door. Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone here in the new development area where it is solved differently.

Off-the-shelf standard floor plans have the advantage that they have already been built a hundred times (possibly slightly modified) and work. Those who want to reinvent the wheel... usually it goes wrong.
